About:

Our vision: We celebrate connections*We teach, learn and empower*We steward and promote unique materials and the stories they tell

Note: The nature of Special Collections & Archives’ materials is such that some items may represent positions, norms, and values that are no longer (or never were) consistent with the positions, norms, and values of the Colby Libraries or of the College as a whole. Similarly, content within the larger, circulating collections may be deemed offensive by some of our visitors; however, to remove or redact this information from the current or historical record would be counter to library and archival best practices. Therefore, potentially offensive materials will remain in the Libraries’ collections, at the Libraries’ discretion, as historical documentation and as reminders that we must be vigilant in our efforts to be both inclusive and transparent.

What's in this Repository?

Special Collections & Archives (SC&A), located in Miller Library, is the college’s repository for historically and culturally -significant materials, including the college archives. Our fabulous materials range in date from the 12th to the 21st centuries and represent a wide range of formats. We fully support Colby’s academic program and innovative pedagogies through aspirational collection development, faculty and student engagement, teaching and exhibition.
